About Cookstown Recycling:

Cookstown Textile Recyclers (CTR) has been in operation since 1993. We are a fully licensed company, holding all the relevant permits from the EHS and EPA alike.

As part of Cookstown Textile Recyclers’ commitment to achieving and maintaining standards of excellence in Waste Management, our company has recently achieved the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard and, also the ISO 9001 Quality Management system.

The requirements for these standards are met by an integrated management system that in itself meets the HB10190 standard for system integration. As a company, we are consistently striving to improve the service we provide.

An integral part of this will be undertaking regular audits of every part of our business from collections through to processing and delivery to final destination markets. Due to this stringent ISO 14001 auditing process and our strict adherence to ‘Duty of Care’ obligations, Cookstown Textile Recyclers are able to fully account for the final destinations of all our textiles, whether they are to be re-worn or recycled. CTR operates from a centrally located 80,000 sq. ft. facility located in Randalstown, County Antrim – strategically located for ease of access to Northern Ireland major motorways and Belfast Docks.

From here, and working closely with our charity partners,we co-ordinate our National Textile Bank Recycling Scheme. By manufacturing and maintaining our own textile banks, we can exercise full control over all aspects of the recycling process, ensuring all potential and current sites can be serviced with maximum efficiency. Our fleet of lorries makes daily collections from both charity shops and textile banks. However, should a bank require servicing at any time, a quick call to our 24-hour emergency hotline will ensure that our drivers/collectors can respond to any eventuality.

All our operations are carried out in a modern, well-equipped facility and because the process is labour intensive, we provide employment for a large workforce. The core process involves the grading and baling of used clothing and textiles that are then exported to a number of overseas markets.

Finally, we at CTR recognize that care for the environment is everyone’s responsibility and we share the mantra: ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.’ All our processes comprise of dry, non-toxic operations which bear no negative environmental implications. In fact, CTR is a great friend of the environment. We dispose safely of large amounts of waste textiles that would otherwise add to the already excessive landfill burden experienced globally.
