Con Men and Robbers...
Do you know where your rag is going to?
The textile recycling industry and especially charity organisations are being hit hard by bogus ‘door to door’ collections.
This problem seems to be spiralling out of control to the point where legitimate charity organisations are having their own ‘door to door’ collections stolen by these recycling robbers. The Association of Charity Shops defines a bogus collector as
‘an organisation that claims to be giving the clothes for charity or selling them for the direct benefit of the charity but is not in fact doing this.’
Our industry is being undermined on a daily basis by people claiming to be collecting on behalf of a legitimate charity organisation. Something needs to be done about this!
We, at Cookstown Textile Recyclers realize that the general public are becoming increasingly aware of these ‘cowboys’ who collect illegally but there are still those who are content to get rid of old clothing wherever. The large majority of these collectors do so without the necessary documentation and export unprocessed clothes illegally.
This business is fuelled by illegal cash transactions. If you have any ideas on how we can stop this illegality, please send your ideas to admin@c-t-r.com
